How can I become a member of BFHA?

You can become a Berkshire Family History Association Member online! If you prefer to mail in your Member Application with a check, please download our Member Brochure.


What is the annual cost of membership?

The annual cost of an Individual Membership is $15.00. Our membership year runs from January 1 through December 31. Become a Member today!


What are the benefits of Membership?

As a BFHA Member you will receive our quarterly newsletter, The Berkshire Family Historian, four times a year, as well as the Berkshire Family Historian, our seasonal publication.  Members will also have access to the entire collection of Berkshire Genealogist, the out of print publication of BFHA.

Member’s are also entitled to 2 hours of free research done by one of our volunteers. Volunteers use the vast resources of the Local History & Genealogy Department of the Berkshire Athenaeum, Pittsfield’s Public Library.


What do my Membership dollars support?

Membership dollars help maintain and grow the collection and resources of Berkshire Athenaeum’s Local History & Genealogy Department.


I’m a Member! How do I submit a request for my free 2 hours of research?

Member research requests can be made via a Research Request Form, postal mail, or by emailing the BFHA. When making a request, please provide as much information as you can about your question. Names, dates, places, and relationships are helpful.


Where is the BFHA located?

Berkshire Family History Association is based out of the Local History & Genealogy Department at Berkshire Athenaeum, Pittsfield’s Public Library in Massachusetts. BFHA volunteers are typically available Thursday mornings; Athenaeum staff members are available other times. All are welcome during Library hours. For holiday closures or information on weather delays, visit pittsfieldlibrary.org

Can I donate my family tree?

BFHA is based out of Berkshire Athenaeum’s Local History & Genealogy Department. Please contact Berkshire Athenaeum’s Local History & Genealogy Department to arrange a donation of your family tree or other associated genealogical papers.
