Wiater Means Wind

Wiater Means Wind
The Polish Hermit

By Mark Bissailion

It is a cool and windy day at the Wiater Farm. Uncle Chet told me that Wiater means wind in Polish and we got our last name because of this story.

He said Dziadek (my grandfather) told him this story when he was a little boy. Many many years ago in Poland lived a royal family. They had much property and wealth. During one of the many invasions of Poland this family said we most go like the wind. So they left their land and from then on took Wiater as their last name.

Whether not this true or we will never know. But the name Wiater serves us well considering back in the day my brother Ernie ran like the wind and so does my nephew, McGrath. And I was not bad myself.

So here is to the Wiater name. We all are like the wind. At times gentle and at times strong. Sometimes we whisper and sometimes we yell. It is a good name and it will carry on for years to come.
