Berkshire Genealogist
Berkshire Genealogist is a quarterly that was published from 1978 to 2017. Each issue contains information, stories, pictures, and histories of Berkshire County, Massachusetts, and surrounding areas. Much of this information will not be found anywhere else. An every name index of the entire collection has been incorporated into the comprehensive BFHA MASTER INDEX. The Table of Contents for each issue is also available.
Here are a few tips to using these finding aids.
Access the BFHA Index at link above. Search by name or by subject. Enter the subject in the Last Name field and optionally a specific item in the First Name field. (ex. LAST NAME: Churches, Parishes, Schools; FIRST NAME: First Baptist)
Once you have found an item of interest in the database, if Berkshire Genealogist is the source, go to the TABLES OF CONTENT. Using the volume and issue number from your search try to match known facts about the person of interest to the Table of Contents entry. For example, if a person you seek was in the Civil War and the corresponding Table of Contents concerns original settlers from the 18th century, then it probably isn't your person.
